If we want to ensure that we lead happy and productive lives, we must take time out periodically and find ways to relax and have fun. There are many ways that you can do to help recharge your batteries and create memories that you’ll carry with you for a lifetime.

One of the ways of doing this is by indulging on an adventure or two. Below are 5 activities I think are experiences worth trying to make your life that bit more spontaneous and can add adventure to your life.

1. Driving Experiences

If speed is something that you love, then the perfect day out might be a day at the track where you can burn some rubber in some of the world’s fastest machinery.

Driving experiences are guaranteed to get your heart racing from start to finish. There’s an opportunity to experience driving a variety of different cars including supercars, sportscars, 4×4 cars and dragstars. Whichever driving experience you’re eligible for also depends on certain requirements being met.

You’ll be supervised by a qualified instructor whilst you tackle the track or road course. Typically a driving experience lasts between 45 mins and 1 hour. It mainly includes a drivers briefing before you take it to the track, 20-30 min of fun driving and then perhaps a debrief. Drivers normally have to be over 16 or 18 (depending on the country you’re living in) and hold a valid driving license. If not then it’s likely you’ll be a passenger while a driving instructor takes you round providing other requirements are met.

2. Helicopter Ride Experience

Another adventurous activity to get your adrenaline going is a helicopter flight. Many companies are offering this service, and the helicopter hire rates can vary depending on different factors. It is best to look around tonget the best flight experience possible.

Pilots and passengers usually have briefings to make sure the flight goes smoothly without hiccups. Make sure that you remember to take your camera as there will be plenty of opportunities for you to take some spectacular aerial shots during your trip. Being at such a high altitude is a rare occasion for the average person so you’ll need to take something back to show off to your mates.

3. Skydiving

Maybe a ride in a helicopter isn’t quite enough. That’s cool, this is where skydiving comes into it. You can take yourself or your thrill-seeking buddy with you and enjoy the basic training offered by the instructors on the ground before ascending thousands of feet to make your first jump. Alternatively you can head to an indoor skydiving centre and enjoy a virtual skydiving experience.

If you have never done this before, you will first need to do a tandem jump with a qualified instructor, and the two of you will share a parachute. Once you are experienced and have made the necessary amount of jumps, you will then be able to enjoy a solo jump and experience skydiving solo for the first time.

4. Scuba Diving

Another way that you can experience something new and also take up a new hobby is to learn how to scuba dive and explore under the ocean. Whether its some of the beautiful reefs off the coast of Australia, the Great Hole in Belize or deep depths of the Pacific Ocean in Micronesia.

There are a lot of companies that will be able to teach you to dive, as well as take your tests so that you can gain your open water qualification, allowing you to go diving anywhere in the world. Seeing under the ocean from a first-hand perspective will give you a new respect and admiration for our planet and its natural wonders that are so plentifully abundant.

5. Amusement Parks

Amusement and theme parks can serve as a good edge of your seat alternative in case the track or the elements of sea or air isnt doing it for you. Enjoy the roller coasters and other rides. when things get too hot for you, cool down on the water slides and in the wave pools, perfect for all the family. There’s plenty of other interactive activities for adults and children alike that’ll make your experience at the park worthwhile.

Some of the best memories of my life were at Thorpe Park with my mates. Alton Towers, Butlins and Chessington are also theme parks worth checking out if you’re in the UK.

Great list, Johnny. I had never even considered a driving experience but it sounds super fun. Hoping to get scuba certified this year and have some underwater adventures. Adding on to the list, multi-day hiking trips are super fun and checking out national and state parks (especially nature focused ones).

Wow it’s incredible that you’re going to be qualified to scuba dive. Good luck with it! Trust me your whole body would be flipped upside down by how fast you’ll be going!

I have never gone scuba diving, but I went to an amusement park once and rode about every ride there. To be fair, it was a smaller amusement park, but I loved the thrill of trying something new and was always a little sad when the ride ended. 🙂

Yeah you definitely always want the ride to go on a bit longer! That’s what gives you the buzz to have more of those experiences. How short and sweet it all is.

I must admit that four of these scare me witless. However, having done a little bit of scuba before, it’s something I’d love to get back to.

😂😂😂 There’s definitely an element of fear all of them can give off. How did you find scuba diving first time?

      • June 18, 2020 / 10:01 am

I did scuba diving a long, long time ago in Portugal when I spent a summer there. Come to think of it, I also surfed there too. Perhaps I’m more adventurous than I thought!

I’m afraid of heights so I will pass on the sky diving and helicopter rides. They might be a bit too adventurous for me. LOL I would give the others a shot though!

That’s cool, everyone has their own limits and preferences. Like I don’t see myself bungee jumping or going skiing

I’ve never gone sky diving. But scuba diving in my thing. I love how meditative the ocean is. I can’t wait to do it again after quarantine.

I can imagine, especially with how quiet and peaceful it is compared to being on the surface! Got any recommendations where to do it?

Ohhh that’s a shame. At least you can still do watersports to some degree and go to amusement parks but I take it rollercoasters and rides aren’t an option?

Very cool list! I have done 3 of 5 and not skydiving but paraglided in Colombia! May have to add car racing.

  7. June 16, 2020 / 2:45 pm

I’d love to try some of these! Especially scuba diving as I love being in the water. I’ve done snorkelling a few times but it’s not quite the same. I’d also love to skydive but don’t know if I have the courage!

Same here, scuba diving looks like a magical experience. The only water activity I’ve done outdoors is jetskiing which was amazing (check it out on my blog by the way. What’s snorkelling like?

  9. June 17, 2020 / 2:29 pm

Some great suggestions for outdoor activities. I’ve scuba dived for many years and one of the sports I’ve always enjoyed, especially when traveling to tropical destinations. We also had a blast taking the Petty Driving Experience, driving a real NASCAR. I’ve yet to sky dive, but maybe one day! 🙂

Brilliant ideas here Johnny Boy. We’ve actually been talking about sky diving, I stupidly said I think I’d love it… Well Rob has been researching. I really need to learn to keep my mouth shut because I am actually terrified of heights and won’t go on a theme park ride.

I told him I might sky dive if he takes me to New zealand!

  12. June 18, 2020 / 10:34 am

Great list! Admittedly, I am probably way to scared to do most of them. I would love to do a helicopter ride experience one day. The whole experience I think would be truly memorable.

I love Amusement Parks. I’ve also rode on a helicopter in Hawaii and that was so much fun.
